Beyond Annual Leave run group trips for people who don't want a package holiday. We travelled with them for two weeks in Bali as the only crew, shooting the film and the photography side by side: villas, boat days, jungle tracks and the sunsets everyone books the trip for.
The challenge
Group travel content usually looks like either a brochure nobody believes or a phone dump nobody shares. There's no second take on a trip: the boat leaves, the light goes, the moment happens once. We had to cover a fortnight of unscripted days and still come home with a film that feels directed.
Our approach
- Travelled light and stayed inside the group, one operator, small kit, so nothing felt staged and people forgot the camera was there
- Planned the anchor set-pieces around the itinerary (floating breakfast, the boat day, sunset on the water) and let everything between them play out
- Shot drone, ground and portrait every day so the film has scale and the stills library has faces
- Graded warm and saturated to hold the island colour (turquoise water, orange light) without pushing it into a filter

Results
One trip produced the hero film, the short-form set and a photo library Beyond Annual Leave still sell the next departure with. Every guest came home with images of themselves in it.
